Manchester United star Carrick participated in the show and talked about his tactical analysis of Manchester United's victory over Brighton.
What do you think of Manchester United's double midfielder and the support they receive?
There's certainly been a lot of discussion over the past year or so about double holding midfielders, their pairings and the space they have to cover. As a midfielder, I am very interested in how they are supported and helped. You cannot expect two midfielders to deal with three or four players when facing a good team, so how to find a solution is the problem.
So how did Manchester United find this solution?
They found a solution by having the forwards drop deep into the midfield as we show here to support B Fee and Casemiro. They marked Ruttle early and stayed there, almost forming a three-man midfield through Luke Shaw. At the end of the day, it's a numbers game and it's a space game and you have to fill the right spaces.
B Fee, Luke Shaw and Casemiro filled the middle of the pitch here and just kept the team solid. Facing a team like Brighton, you can't ask B Fee and Casemiro to do this, and the formation is quite fluid.
How would you rate the efforts of the players involved in this tactical switch?
You see Cunha tracking back to the left-back position here, and that says it all. This is a very significant change for Mbemo, Cunha, B Fee, Casemiro and Luke Shaw.
