Drapp was interviewed by Chelsea's official media today and talked about his connections with Maresca, Palmer and Lavia.
In the 2020/21 season, Drapp and Maresca and others worked at Manchester City U21. That season, Drapp scored 24 goals in 20 league games and won the Premier League U21 championship with Maresca.
Drapp recalls: "He was an extraordinary coach who greatly promoted the growth of all of us. We set historical records that season, and the achievements he later achieved - and those of his peers - were amazing."
"He had a deep understanding of the game. He was extremely particular about the details when guiding us. Although it was difficult to digest a lot of information at that age, he could always teach it in the way we understood and apply it to the game. The development over the years has proved that his teaching has benefited us a lot."
After joining Manchester City from Derby County in 2019, Drapp often played in the U18 matches with Cole Palmer in his first season. He said: "Palmer is incredible in every aspect, and I can't wait to be his passing target again!"
In the 2020-21 season, the two were promoted to the U21 echelon coached by Maresca and became teammates with Lavia, who joined from Anderlecht. Drapp said: "We spent a lot of time together at Manchester City, grew up together, and played wonderful football together. I discussed this transfer with them and looked forward to playing side by side again."
"Coleville and I are also quite familiar with each other. We have played hundreds of times during our youth training. It is always a good thing to come to the new club to meet acquaintances. I have asked several teammates for advice. They all told me what an ideal choice is, and I am extremely looking forward to fighting with them."
