The London Police Department of the United Kingdom issued an announcement today, formally accusing 32-year-old former Arsenal midfielder Thomas of suspected five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault between 2021 and 2022.

Coincidentally, former Manchester City defender Mendy also encountered a similar process, but Mendy went through two years of investigation and trial and was eventually found not guilty.

On August 26, 2021, Cheshire Police in the United Kingdom issued a notice accusing 27-year-old Benjamin Mendy of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The allegations involved three whistleblowers over the age of 16, and the crimes allegedly occurred between October 2020 and August 2021.

After Mendy was raped, Manchester City officials also issued an announcement on the same day, announcing that they had voluntarily suspended Mendy pending investigation.

Thereafter, the rape and sexual assault allegations against Mendy once increased to up to 9. In January 2023, Mendy's seven charges were sentenced to invalidation. In July 2023, the local court ruled that Mendy's final two charges were invalid. Mendy was eventually found not guilty.

Mendy also won the lawsuit for salary from Manchester City in November last year, asking for a salary of over 11 million pounds owed during the 16-month suspension from the club. At the age of 30, he plays for the Zurich Club in Switzerland.

Now that Thomas has expired and becomes a free agent, he is facing the dilemma of being plagued by lawsuits, it is unknown what his future will be.
