The main reason for dogs to catch a cold is the effect of cold. Especially some dog owners are more careless and are more likely to occur if they are not raised or managed at the time. For example: sleeping in the cold night, lying on the cold ground for a long time, suffering from rain after sweating, stimulating by cold water when wading across the river, and raising it in a cold and humid environment for a long time can easily make your dog catch a cold:

1. Symptoms of dog cold

If a dog catches a cold, the main symptoms are: the dog's mental depression. The expression is indifferent, the tip of the ears and nose is cold and tears, the body temperature is increased (dog owners can touch the inner side of the dog's thigh with their hands, and they should feel it is hot), and the dog also has a cough.

If treatment is not done in time, dogs are also very likely to change from cold to pneumonia.

2. Drugs for preventing and treating colds on dogs

1. In the early stage, you can give dogs some anti-cold medicines for children, such as children's cold powder and cold granules; but be careful that the doses are all children's dosages, and do not give dogs adults.

2. For dogs with cough symptoms, you can add oral compound licorice tablets, 3-4 tablets per time, twice a day.

3. You can also take 1-2 tablets/time orally in the early stage; or intramuscular injection of 30% anthracene, 1-2 times a day, 2 ml each time is also possible.

4. Antipyretic and anti-inflammatory: The normal body temperature of a dog does not exceed 39.3℃. When you have a cold, the body temperature of a sick dog exceeds 40℃ and a chill occurs. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be used. The most commonly used ones are 0.5-2 ml subcutaneously or intramuscularly according to the size of the individual. Chinese medicine can be used as Chaihu injection, which has good efficacy.

5. If you are worried about concurrent infection in your dog, penicillin is the first choice. 400,000 to 800,000 units are intramuscularly, twice a day. Other antibacterial drugs such as kanamycin, cepomycin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, etc. can also be used. Infection should be treated with severely critical cases. Penicillin, dexamethasone, vitamin C, etc. can be added to 10% glucose solution, and intravenously intravenously.

3. Notes:

1. If the dog is less than three months old, the dosage should not exceed one-quarter of the adult dosage; if the adult dog is less than six months old, the dosage should be one-third of the adult dosage.

2. Dog owners should strengthen their daily cold-resistant exercises in order to enhance their dog's resistance to colds.
