In an interview with talkSPORT, former Burnley coach Sean Dyche revealed that he wanted to sign Kane in coaching Burnley.
When asked which transfers I wanted to complete, Dyche said: "The only transfer I wanted to complete was Kane, and people would think it was stupid to try to sign him when he was in the right form, but it wasn't. I tried to sign him when he went through a few less than ideal rentals.
He did a great job when he rented Millwall, and that was the first time I followed him because I had some friends there and they really looked forward to him. He was also young but was very good at playing, and Millwall was a hard place to play, but he was great. He was on loan several times later, but they were both substitutes.
I ran into Kane and him on vacation in Portugal once. The family, and then chatted with him and called his dad. But even at the time, the money was a huge sum. I mean, Tottenham is no fool, I remember (former Tottenham striker) Clive Allen told me what a great player and terminator Kane was. "
Dych continued: "I have to clarify that the deal was never that close, (Spurs) offered a high price, and (Burnley) it was difficult to get that much money, we wouldn't pay that much. He might be the one I tried to chase, but the transfer fee was too high at the time. Tottenham obviously realized that he had a real talent, and no doubt, a very top player."
