According to ESPN reports, Manchester United had previously rejected Chelsea's intention to add Lavia and Nkunku to the Ganacho deal.

Ganacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for 40 million pounds this summer. Manchester United spent 225 million pounds this summer to introduce new players such as Mbemo, Cunha, Sheshko and Ramens.

Sources told ESPN that although Manchester United acknowledged the need to strengthen the midfielder, they rejected Chelsea's proposal to add the Belgian player to the Ganacho transfer due to concerns about Lavia's physical condition. Lavia joined Chelsea from Southampton in the summer of 2023, but injuries severely limited his playing time and he is currently recovering from his injuries.

Sources also revealed that Nkunku was recommended to Manchester United by Chelsea before joining AC Milan. The forward also suffered from injuries during his time at Chelsea and failed to extend the form he showed during his time in Leipzig to the Premier League.
