According to the British media Daily Mail, former Liverpool women's football coach Matt Beard's death was confirmed and he was found hanged at home.

Coroner John Griffith said at a hearing Monday that medical staff had traveled to his residence in Deesside, Flintshire, and then took him to the hospital. Beard died at 47 at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 20 at the age of 47.

The coroner's office learned that Beard suffered "destructive brain damage" for hanging himself. After the hearing is postponed, a comprehensive cause of death investigation will be conducted on a subsequent date.

Beard has held Liverpool women's football twice in his 17-year coaching career, and has won consecutive league championships in 2013 and 2014. His most recent team is Burnley Women's Football Team, but he resigned after just two months in office. After the news of Beard's death came out, a lot of mourning emerged from all walks of life, and many people paid tribute to him. His brother Mark called him "the most outstanding and caring person, and everyone who was lucky enough to meet him loved him deeply." His son Harry posted several photos of his father and son and wrote to express his feelings of condolences: "Love your dad, 1978-2025. I miss you forever."

The Premier League and the Women's Super League clubs have expressed condolences to Beard in recent games. Liverpool Women's Football Team sang "Matt Beard's Red Army Battle Song" in the 13th and 14th minute of last week's match against Sunderland Women's Football Team to pay tribute. Banners appeared in the stands: "Liverpool was born for Matt, Matt was born for Liverpool."
