According to  talkSPORT, Everton and 31-year-old goalkeeper Pickford started negotiations for contract renewal. Pickford and Everton have two more years to expire, but he is said to be happy to stay in the team for longer.

Although Everton has not yet made a formal offer and the negotiations are still in the early and informal stages, the club's new behind-the-scenes funder Friedkin Group intends to renew the contract with England Gate for another two years. Previously, Branswaite had agreed to a five-year contract in July, which he was seen as part of the club's long-term plan.

Everton plans to reject any offer to Branswaite in 2026, who missed the early season game with a hamstring injury. Pickford is already one of Everton's highest-paid players, with his weekly salary of more than 120,000 pounds. The club plans to stick to the existing salary structure, which means he may not receive a significant pay raise. However, the Friedkin Group is willing to offer incentive contracts, and if Everton can qualify for the European War, the contract extension may become richer.

Pickford is regarded as an important leader and key figure on and off the field of Everton, and is also a player that head coach Moyes is very familiar with. It was the latter who gave him the first team's chance to play when he played for Sunderland. Pickford has not conceded a single goal at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium so far this season. In recent games, he saved a penalty against Brighton, helping the team win 2-0; then achieved a zero-block in a 0-0 draw with Villa.

Pickford, Branswett and Tarkowsky formed Everton's defensive core in recent years. Since joining Sunderland in 2017, Pickford has made more than 300 appearances for Everton and has also become a key figure in the England national team. He made his national team debut in 2017 and served as the starting goalkeeper in the 2020 and 2024 European Cups, becoming England's most games in major events (26 times).
