Coffee is a must-drink drink for many people every day. Research on coffee’s health is not enough. A recent study pointed out that drinking coffee during the day has a significant impact on life. Drinking the right time can effectively reduce all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease risks.

Coffee drinking in the morning may delay

A study published in the academic journal European Heart Journal in January this year by the U.S. Duran University of Neworia showed that drinking coffee in the morning is more related to a decrease in mortality than in the afternoon, and the habit of drinking coffee in the morning may help reduce the risk of death caused by cardiovascular disease and all causes. However, there is a condition: you must finish your coffee before noon. The study compared the coffee intake and cause of death in adults. The results showed that people who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee in the morning were "significantly" lower than those who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee in the morning and compared with those who did not drink coffee.

Based on data from the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES) conducted between 1999 and 2018, the study analyzed the nine-year diet data of more than 42,000 adults. The research team divided the participants into two groups: "morning coffee drinkers" and "all-day coffee drinkers" to compare their mortality. The results showed that cardiovascular disease death risk was 31% lower in morning coffee drinkers and 16% lower in various causes. In contrast, all-day coffee drinkers did not show statistically significant differences compared to those who did not drink coffee at all.

Why is drinking coffee in the morning effective?

Researchers pointed out that this result may be related to the biological clock of the human body. Lu Qi, a temporary director of the Department of Epidemiology at Dulan and the director of the study, said: "It is well known that appropriate coffee consumption is beneficial to health, but our study shows for the first time that coffee is not only important, but the time of drinking coffee is also important. The results of the study show that drinking coffee in the morning is more effective than drinking coffee throughout the day."

In addition, Michelle, a nutritionist in New York, said Routhenstein pointed out that drinking coffee in the morning helps adjust the biological clock, not only improves daytime focus, but also promotes the benefit of sleeping at night. ”On the contrary, drinking coffee in the afternoon or at night may inhibit the secretion of the sleep hormone melatonin, leading to a decrease in sleep quality. Deficiency of sleep and biological clock disorders may further increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and oxidative response.
